Will Sprout is a rookie member of the South Sector.
Childhood friends with Akira and Ren. He acts as a guardian and chaperone to the ever-spontaneous Akira.
He's a kind and gentle soul, but is prone to worrying and sometimes stubborn at the worst time. He's made his life goal to ensure Akira doesn't go back to delinquency and is jealous at Gast for being the one looking out for him at that time.
With a big sweet tooth, he'll shrug off anything that pisses him off if you offer him sweets. He's particularly fond of Japanese sweets.
Appearance[]
Will is a young, tall man with an average build. His blond hair can be considered longer than regular short hair and is quite ruffled. He has narrow hazel eyes and rather thin eyebrows.
Will wears his uniform neatly, showcasing his faintly dark golden tie and slightly rolled up tucked in shirt. On the left side of his shirt he wears HELIOS’s signature medal, whilst on the right side he wears a one star badge displaying his rank. On his trousers accompanied by a dark gray belt he wears a small compartment box on his right leg. He sports his uniform with a pair of brown Italian shoes.
Hero Outfit[]
Will wears the HELIOS standard training outfit under a seemingly joined fleece zip-up and trousers. His outfit overall is a slight dark golden colour similar to his usual tie, which is joined by highlights of green and a mustard yellow. He wears over shoulder straps, which hold his utility belt that dangles a large yellow utility box on his right side and three smaller black utility boxes on his right side around his waist. He usually wears green tinted googles above his forehead resting on his hair as well as mainly black gloves that are coloured yellow at his fingers. For his weapon he carries a large hammer, which is only slightly shorter than himself, the hammer’s head itself is a yellow meanwhile the rest of it’s handle is mix of black and dark grey accompanied by an occasional yellow. His standard boots have green accents.
Loungewear[]
Will’s regular casual outfit consists of a simple mustard coloured t-shirt accompanied by a dark grey zip-up jumper that has lighter grey stripes on them. Along side that he wear light grey joggers that just like his jumper have lighter grey stripes.
Personality[]
Will is a kind-hearted young man with a love for sweets, particularly Japanese sweets, and plants. Will is considered the most responsible, ending up in the leadership roles amongst the rookies, like when he gave a speech as a representative of the rookies in Memories For The Future and in Night and Day, Brad suggests that Will should be a leader amongst the rookies, which all Akira, Ren and Gast quickly agree with. It is also seen Will sometimes takes such roles upon himself such as when he was in the Academy and in Rookie Camp, when he tried to get Group B to hold a meeting, in which Faith ended up commenting on during this.
Will is seen to help anyone in need, such as when he helped hid and aided Siams hoping he would be able to lead a normal life in Raising Hope, even if it could risk him losing his job as a Hero. In this, he as well attempted to stop Sirius from taking Siams with him back to Eclipse. Besides this, it is said by both Faith and Akira that Will tends to nag at people when they laze around or don’t do their dishes. However, he isn’t doing it out of annoyance but as of care for them. In Spring Has Sprung! Happy Easter, Will every night after the possibility the Easter League could be cancelled that year, worked to help all plants alike bloom, just so the Easter League wouldn’t be cancelled and the people of New Million wouldn’t be saddened.
Will has such a major sweet tooth that it interferes with his cooking making anything he cooks ending up being way too sweet. This caused Ren, who Will got to try his cooking when they were younger, to hate sweets purely because of this, and Akira on numerous occasions to mention how he purely dislikes his cooking, that it would end up in him not allowing Will to cook anything sometimes. Apparently, even if Will is angered by something, he can get over it easily if offered Japanese sweets, which Akira has made note of and makes sure to buy his favorite sweets when he’s wronged Will.
Growing up, Will’s parents ran a floral shop, where he ended up with his adoration of plants. Will’s love for plants is often seen in his daily, such as how he has many in his room and how he made flower beds at the rooftop of the HELIOS Tower. Will has once showcased his botanical knowledge when Akira mistakes a manchineel[1] for an apple and lists all side effects from eating them. Here he mentions himself that he’s read many books on plants and has knowledge from what his parents have taught him.
Family[]
Will shares a good relationship with his family, sometimes visiting them after patrols. It’s shown in Spring Has Sprung! Happy Easter how much Will appreciates his parents, when he happily talks about all the things they did for him to celebrate Easter though he was often ill. In this we also learn he usually helps out at his parents store at this time of year, due to it being the busiest then and last year he ended getting Akira and Ren to help out too. We also learn in this story that he’s the one who plans his sisters’ Easter egg hunts too. Whenever Will mentions his family he happily talks about them and how much he cares for them.
Trivia[]
- Will can't swim and is afraid of water for this reason.[2]
- When Will was younger he would get lost in books about Japanese culture for hours because of this, Will developed an interest in Japanese culture and sometimes mentions Japanese proverbs.[3]
